Welcome to Belfast Cycle City
“Belfast Cycle City” is a campaign by Belfast Friends of the Earth. In cooperation with Sustrans and the Northern Ireland Cycling Initiative, we have published the “Belfast Cycle City” Report which outlines potential benefits to Belfast as a cycle-orientated city.
Further to this, it establishes a 2020 vision for Belfast as one of the top 10 cycling cities in the UK.
We are pressing for change from both the City Council and the Department for Regional Development.
To accomplish the campaign vision, we are calling on Department for Regional Development to take three actions:
Create a new 10 year cycle strategy to be delivered in 2010
Support an increase in annual DRD spending to £15 per person , in line with the top performing English cities.
Target 10% of all journeys to be made by bike by 2020
