Knocknamuckly Census Returns
The 1857 Census
was conducted by the minister of Knocknamuckly Church of Ireland
and contain information of the townlands surrounding the church.
A census of this nature is rare in Ireland for the 1850's, so it
is thanks to the Reverend Abraham Dawson that this record is with
us today.
I have made a transcript
of all the McMurrays in all the townlands covered by the 1857 Census.
The census was arranged in households, and I have kept that arrangement,
the columns after each name is the age of each person at the time of
the census.
The document can
be downloaded here
as a 196kb Microsoft Word document and includes extra information collected
at the time of the cenus, e.g. if person could read. (Approximately
2 minute download)
